State Song Resolution is Presented to Chicago Author
State Rep. Michael P. McAuliffe (R-20th) presents Chicago author Stan "Tex" Banash (left) with a copy of HR 184, a House resolution that urges Illinois constitutional officers and members of the Illinois General Assembly to play Illinois, the official State song at all official events, and State colleges and universities to play it at their commencement exercises. Banash, who drafted the resolution to build public awareness and is the author of the book, Roadside History of Illinois, received his copy "as a recognition of our [Illinois House] thanks for his initiative and proposal of this resolution." McAuliffe and Banash are encouraging residents to visit state historical sites, learn Illinois history and take pride in its traditions, all of which leads up to the state's bi-centennial in 2018.
